Hillel
The mission of Hillel is: To create a diverse, dynamic, and welcoming Jewish community on the Syracuse University Campus.
Within Hillel, I am a part of Freshfest, Shabbat, Challah for Hunger and Tea & Torah.
FreshFest is a pre-orientation program for all incoming students offered by Hillel and coordinated by facilitators. As a freshman, I was being mentored; I plan to continue to be a part of Freshfest as a facilitator for the next three years.
Hillel's Shabbat services and dinner are every Friday night, while school is in session. Candle lighting starts promptly at 6:00 PM. Services will begin after candle lighting and Shabbat dinner follow services at roughly 7:15 PM. There is always a conservative service upstairs and a reformed service downstairs to accommodate the level of religion one practices at home.
Challah for Hunger meets every Wednesday at Hillel to bake challah. We sell the challah and all proceeds go towards fighting hunger in the greater Syracuse Community. We currently donate to Meals on Wheels in Syracuse and Mazon which is a national organization which helps fight hunger in the US and in Israel.
Tea & Torah is a group that meets every Monday at 5pm at Cafe Kubal; we look at the Torah portion and talk about its relevance for our lives today on campus.

Volleyball
Within Hillel there are two teams: Chai on Life and Chai Fives. I am on team Chai on Life. In Hebrew, the related word chaya means "life" or "long life", and is derived from the Hebrew word chai (חי), meaning "life". Jews often give gifts and donations in multiples of 18, which is called "giving chai". It is a co-ed intramural team on which I play both the outside and back positions.
Information Security Club
The mission of the Information Security Club is to practice managing the inherent challenges in protecting and defending corporate network infrastructure, and to learn response and mitigation techniques against both well-known and zero day cyber attacks.
Information Security Club further strives to understand both the business and technology implications of information security on organizations, and to advance careers in technology and information security.
As a member of the Information Security Club, I use Kali Linux and other hacking tools to learn new skills, and compete in the National Cyber League
